Residential Park Home Insurance

A Residential Park Home is, by insurance standards, classed as a non-standard risk; you therefore need a specialist Park Home insurance policy to cater for the specific needs attached to such a risk.

Our Parksure Residential Park Home Insurance policy is specifically tailored to cater to your individual needs and the differing requirements of any residential park home.  Parksure does this by offering one of the most attractive policies on the market.

Remember, if your current insurance policy makes no mention of the words Residential Park Home in the policy wording, how can you be sure you are insured correctly, if at all? All residential park home insurance claims are settled on the specific policy in question, so make sure you check yours thoroughly and look for those specific words.

Also, as residential park homes are a non-standard risk, be wary of companies that seem to offer too good a deal, they could be insuring your home as a ‘bricks and mortar’ property under a standard insurance policy.  Your home is not made of bricks and mortar;  it is made of marine ply-wood and is therefore more expensive to insure than its brick equivalent as it is more susceptible to certain claims.

A deal such as this may seem too good to pass up; after all it’s the insurance companies’ fault if they got it wrong, isn’t it? Actually, the emphasis is always on the customer to check and make sure they are insured on the correct basis. If you are insured on the incorrect residential park home insurance policy, you may find you are inadequately covered or not covered at all.

This is why at Parksure, we tailor our insurance for park homes to meet your needs.

How much should I insure for?

In the event of a total loss your insurance will replace your home with its brand new equivalent on a like for like basis.  Your sums insured therefore need to be sufficient to include the replacement of your home with a brand new equivalent home, clearance of the site and deliver and re-siting of the new home.  We can offer advice on exactly what the reinstatement cost of your home would be but to avoid any uncertainty our Park Home Insurance Policy automatically covers you for up to £400,000 which should ensure that your home is fully covered at all times.

Am I covered for temporary accommodation in the event of a total loss?

Yes in the unlikely event that your home becomes uninhabitable for example through a fire or flood, your insurance will pay your ground rent and any reasonable temporary accommodation up to a limit of 20% of your building sums insured which in case of the Block sums insured equates to £80,000.

Can you arrange Immediate Cover?

Yes call us during office hours on Freephone Number 0800 731 9583 and we can provide you with a quotation and immediate cover over the phone.  We are open 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday.

Am I covered for contents in the garage or outbuilding?

Yes you are covered up to £5,000 as long as the garage or outbuilding was locked.

Do I need to insure the base?

The base or ‘serviced pitch’ is owned by the site owner and it is therefore the responsibility of the site owner to insure the base against, for example, subsidence or damage.

Do I need to insure outbuildings?

You are responsible for insuring any outbuildings that you own, such as sheds, conservatory, garages, steps and decking/veranda.

Does the policy include my contents?

Yes our bedroom rated policy automatically covers you for up to £40,000 which is normally more than adequate to cover all your contents within the home.  This sum insured can be increased if required.

Can I insure items away from the home?

Yes ‘Personal Possessions’ cover away from the home is an optional extra under our Residential Policy and extends to cover you anywhere in the world for up to 90 days.

Am I covered for contents in the garden?

You are covered for up to £2,500 for damage to garden furniture, ornaments and normal contents found in the garden.

Do I have public liability cover?

You are covered for up to £5 Million for your legal liability as the owner of the home.

Why do I have to insure with a 'specialist' insurance company; why can't I insure it with a main stream insurer?

As residential park homes are a non-standard risk, be wary of companies that seem to offer too good a deal, they could be insuring your home as a ‘bricks and mortar’ property under a standard insurance policy.  Your home is not made of bricks and mortar;  it is made of marine ply-wood and is therefore more expensive to insure than its brick equivalent as it is more susceptible to certain claims.  A deal such as this, may seem too good to pass up; after all it’s the insurance companies’ fault if they got it wrong, isn’t it?   Actually, the emphasis was always on the customer to check and make sure they were insured on the correct basis;  however nowadays, as long as you have answered truthfully and honestly and to the best of your knowledge,  you should be OK but you should always check your proposal form or statement of facts and the policy wording and to make sure all the information is correct. If you are insured on the incorrect policy, you may find you are inadequately covered or not covered at all.

Why do you need to know the Make and Model of my home?

Even though your policy covers you on a block sum insured basis the premium is calculated on the replacement cost of your home with an equivalent new model of the same size and specification.  For this reason we need to know the make and model of your home so we can calculate the replacement cost of a new home.  If you do not know the make and model we may still be able to provide a quotation but you will need to give us as much information as you possibly can.

Am I covered for Flood cover?

Yes this is covered under our policy automatically.

Am I covered for my electric bicycle?

Yes we can cover them for an extra cost as long as they are not over 0.25KW i.e. 250 watts.

Am I covered for Fire and Theft?

Yes this is covered under our policy automatically.

Am I covered for Accidental Damage?

Yes this is covered under our policy automatically.

Do I have to use the Insurance provider recommended by the Park Owner?

Some park owners have arrangements with particular insurance providers.  You are within your rights to insure with whomever you want and the park cannot insist you insure through them; in fact it is illegal and the Financial Conduct Authority (F.C.A.) would be very interested if the park were trying this tactic .  We would however point out that you should make sure that the insurance provider is one of the few insurance specialists that provides cover for your particular type of home and not just a main stream insurer.  This is why it is important that you insure through someone like ourselves.
