Even though my Park Home is situated on a hill and therefore never likely to flood, what I hadn’t realised is that Flood cover also includes if I can’t get to or stay in my home because the entrance to the Park is inaccessible or the utilities are affected (sewerage, water, gas, oil, electric) and in those instances, the alternate accommodation under my Policy would provide me with somewhere to stay.

My current insurer states that the property HAS to be drained down, but I’m really pleased to hear that your condition is that I can leave the lodge heating on a minimum setting of 10 degrees OR drain it down as I generally visit the lodge through the winter so it’s a real hassle having to drain it down all the time.

Client : Can you tell me why my bank say they can offer me cover but as soon as I tell them it’s a Park Home they say they can’t?

Parksure : Yes of course! Even though Park Homes have been in existence for over 50 years, it’s still a very niche market with only around 15 insurers in the UK providing cover. This is because a Park Home is classed as “non-standard construction”. The bank’s insurers would be offering a quote thinking it’s a bungalow – it’s not!! A bungalow has foundations, whereas a Park Home doesn’t so even though Park Homes are traditionally bricked round at the base, this is for aesthetic reasons as the Park Home is built on a chassis and sited on a concrete base so essentially it’s complete moveable should the need arise..

My caravan is now 20 years old and I was looking for the cheapest way to insure it. You kindly explained the differences between Market Value (Indemnity) which is always the cheaper option and New For Old (Reinstatement) – the best cover because it provides a brand new replacement should the worst happen. You explained that you no longer provide cover on a Market Value basis because the cover is so minimal and I realised the benefits of having the better cover and policy so I have renewed with you.

I was very price conscious this year for obvious reasons and I was looking to go with another insurer because they were slightly cheaper.  When you explained to me the additional benefits of legal and home emergency cover under the policy as standard and I realised that the cheaper policy didn’t include those covers I knew it made sense to pay that little bit more to have the wider cover, so thank you again, I really appreciate the time you took to explain the benefits to me.

What really swung my decision to take out a Policy with you was that you include Vermin and Pet Damage.

I’ve had a quote which is a lot cheaper but I don’t trust that it will give me the right cover.  After you explained that the cheap quote would have been on Market Value whereas your quote is New for Old, I know I’m making the right choice by choosing you.  You’ve been really helpful explaining everything about the cover and very professional.

I’d locked myself out of my home, I rang the Home Emergency Claim Number and received a call out within a very short space of time.  The gentleman attending was so lovely and helpful and had me back in my home within moments.
